Financially strapped Jewish families in Crown Heights have received generous support ahead of the 8 day Pesach holiday.
Some $60,000 in groceries, including 650 cases of fresh fish, chicken and meat, were distributed this week by the yomtov fund, a local charity which helps individuals and families year-round.
Those coming out last week to receive the goods for Pesach were met by cold and rainy weather, but also the warm and welcoming arm of Mrs. Devora Scheiner who runs the fund out of her home on Montgomery Street.
Mrs. Scheiner made a speech in which she dedicated the event to the merit of Mrs. Rashi Minkowicz obm and Mrs. Rivkie Barber obm, two Shluchos who recently passed away.
A full breakfast spread was set up by Scheiner and her volunteer friends, with special treats for the children.
