Frum Art Studio Opens Today

Women and girls in Crown Heights who have an artistic itch will now have a place to be creative and expressive in a non-judgmental, kosher environment.

Starting Nov. 21, the Open Art Studio will be offering affordable art classes for women and girls, ages 9 and up.

Run by Mussi Greenberg and Chaya’le Sharfstein, classes will include oils, acrylics, ceramics, drawing and a range of different crafts for each age group.

“As a kid, I would have loved to take art lessons,” Chana B. said. “But unfortunately, my parents, like many others in our community, couldn’t afford to send me to lessons after school.”

Scholarships and sister-discounts will change this reality and make it possible for everyone to benefit, Greenberg and Sharfstein told COLlive.com. The Open Art Studio is dedicated to making classes affordable and available for all ages.

“We recognize and appreciate the fact that every person, by nature, has a creative and expressive side,” the two said. “By encouraging creativity and artistic expression, the Open Art Studio is all about allowing women and girls to process and express things in an exciting, healthy enviroment.”

Today, Sunday, Nov 13 (3:30-5:30pm) and Tuesday, Nov 15 (6-8pm) they will be having an open house at the studio located at 619 Montgomery (side entrance)

Women are welcome to come meet the teachers, enjoy some light refreshments, and bring along the kids for a free soap making craft. 3rd-8th grade girls who sign up before or at the Open House get a 10% discount.
