The new year of Chassidus has begun with broadening the concept of spreading the wellsprings even further – as this day and age permits.
A Yud Tes Kislev Farbrengen in Flatbush Sunday was broadcast live to Jewish communities and individuals around the globe.
Thousands logged on through COLlive.com and TheYeshiva.net to watch the hour-long event with world-renowned author and lecturer Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Jacobson.
At the Veretsky Hall in Flatbush, Brooklyn, an audience of nearly 1000 people were treated to a succulent dinner followed by a Farbrengen.
The evening began with opening remarks by Rabbi Shalom DovBer Chein, Rav of Congregation Merkaz Habracha in Flatbush.
He was followed by a Siyum haShas by Rabbi Yochanan Marozov, Rav of Bais Menachem Mendel of Flatbush.
Centering on the theme of “Why is Chassidus Relevant for Our Times,” Rabbi Jacobson enthralled the participants with lessons, stories, and even a few well-timed jokes.
Interwoven with choir-led Chassidic niggunim and dancing, the Farbrenegen bridged all levels and persuasions of Yiddishkeit, lasting well past midnight.
The event was hosted and arranged by Bais Menachem Mendel and Congregation Merkaz Habracha of Flatbush.
hello Tzvi!
No doubt, Chabad has been in Flatbush for a long time. My own family (Chabad Chassidim since the times of the original Yud Tes Kislev) has lived here for close to 20 years. In #3 I was not looking to take away from any of the other Lubavitch institutions here in Flatbush, only to congratulate and express Hakoras Hatov to the sponsor/coordinating Rabbonim on a well executed event. I myself attended ULY on Ocean Parkway for 9.5 years (followed by out-of-town Achei Temimim yeshivos), and have davened in many of the Lubavitcher shulim in Flatbush.
TO ALL THE ABOVE POSTS, RABBIS CHEIN AND MUSS, THERE HAS BEEN LUBAVITCH IN FLATBUSH FOR OVER 40 YEARS. THE REBBES YESHIVA IS IN THE HEART OF FLATBUSH – MIDWOOD. REB SHIMON GOLDMAN HAD A BUTCHER STORE IN FLATBUSH FOR 40 YEARS. EICHLERS IS IN FLATBUSH FOR OVER 30 YEARS. RABBIS KORENBLIT, HECHT, SCHNEERSON FOR OVER 40 YEARS. RABBIS LIBEROW, KORENBLIT, LEVINE AND VIGLER ARE DOING THE REBBES WORK WITH POSITIVE RESULTS. THIS FARBRENGEN IS JUST A RESULT OF ALL THE HARD WORK. KEEP IT UP. KOL HAKAVOD.
It’s long been said about NYC that there are no real communities, and that no one knows their neighbors. Even more so in the Frum community, where we not only identify by race, country of origin, etc, but even within Judaism we’re Litvish, Yeshivish, M.O., Chassidish, or other. This farbreingen brought all these disparate groups together in ACHDUS, and as a single community. It has long been Rabbi Chein’s dream to build a true community, through Merkaz Habracha and beyond. In partnering with Rabbi Morozov of Bais Menachem Mendel, they have both expanded on their missions. May they continue their… Read more »
Kol Hakoved Rav Yochanan Morozov and President Yosef Muss for initiating and co-sponsoring this wondorous Yud Tes Kislev Farbrengen for the greater Flatbush Community. The one thousand yidden that attended, and remained until the conclusion, after midnight, represents the blossoming community, that has developed through your efforts. The new Beis Menachem Mendel shul and Yeshiva buildings on Ave J, adjacent to the Yeshiva of Flatbush and Touro College landmarks, have created an excitement throughout the Flatbush community. Kol Hakoved.
Beautiful, finally real Chabad in Flatbush
Thank you Rabbi Chein
