Yossi Eliav, Director of special projects at the Yad L’Achim organization, stopped at the Crown Heights Matzah bakery to pickup Matzohs to send together with Tefilin, Mezuzahs, a Chumash, Tanya and other Seforim in Arabic to a Jew in a Muslim country considered by Israel as an “Enemy State.”
Eliav was acting as part of Yad L’Achim’s recent efforts to work with Arab speaking Jews in Arabic countries. The organization’s Roots Department is receiving a growing number of calls from Jews in Arab countries.
From its inception, the goal of the department was to reach every Jewish man and woman in the Arab or Muslim world – who may be second, third or even fourth generation to a mixed marriage – and help them return to their Judaism.
Yad L’Achim works with these Jews in myriad ways, but only after their Judaism has been positively ascertained by experts working with Yad L’Achim.
The department is currently in contact with Jews in Libya, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt and Lebanon.
Yossi, you are such an inspiration and light unto the nations. Literally following the directives of the Lubavitcher Rebbe by lighting up the world with goodness and kindness.
May you continue to grow and make the rebbe proud!
Blessings and Success,
Chaya Raskin
