On a recent Sunday evening, Friendship Circle of Brooklyn held an appreciation event to honor its dedicated volunteers, who have made a profound impact on the lives of individuals with special needs.
The event, orchestrated by Boys Division Coordinator Moshe Rubin, brought together 93 volunteers for an evening of gratitude and celebration.
Throughout the year, these volunteers have participated in various programs, including Friends at Home, Monthly Kumzitses, and the Thursday night learning program. Despite their rigorous schedules, these Bochurim have consistently made time to visit their friends. It’s important to note that these visits take place during the Bochurim’s dinner breaks! A very small window of ‘free time’ in their day, and this is how they fill it. How heartwarming. The families of the Friendship Circle are deeply grateful for their tireless efforts and commitment to friendship.
Throughout the evening, volunteers shared about their experiences. Thank you to Shnuer Weinstein of Achei, Zalmy Gourary and Yosef Julius of Oholei Torah and Shneur Baitelman of Chovevei Torah. Moshe Rubin then presented each set of volunteers with a personal award, pointing out something unique about each set and what they accomplished.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization,” said Rabbi Berel Majesky, Director of Friendship Circle Brooklyn. “Your kindness has touched hearts and transformed lives. When we started at the Friendship Circle, the boys division consisted of only 15 volunteers. Both programming and volunteer engagement have grown tremendously and we thank you for being part of this.”
The appreciation event was a testament to the power of volunteerism and the impact that dedicated individuals can have on their community.
