This year has been a real testament to the growth of the Crown Heights community. New buildings are being bought. New initiatives are being born. I would like to share with you the newest diamond in our Crown (Heights.)
Miriam’s Motherhood Center.
About five years ago, after being blessed with my first baby, I became aware of a need in our community: The need to create a space for mothers. In any place, and in Crown Heights as well, there’s a need to support mothers in their journey through motherhood.
More than that, we’re living in a time when we not only have to support mothers with the resources they may need, but we have to celebrate them. Celebrate motherhood. And to inspire mothers in their holy service of Hashem.
Mothers deserve to have a welcoming, beautiful, baby-friendly place that was designed with them in mind.
Together with my husband we searched and waited for the right opportunity. We needed a space that was Big. Bright. Have room for strollers. Good location. With lots of help from above and with lots of help from below, we signed a lease after Tishrei and in the interim months, we have been working together with a dedicated crew to transform an old warehouse into an elegant and chic space.

This Friday marks the fourth yarhtzeit of my dear grandmother, Mrs. Miriam Tzimmel Friedman, of blessed memory. She was “Bubby Friedman” to many more than her hundred-plus grandchildren.
The Motherhood Center is being dedicated to her. And it is a most fitting dedication.
My bubby was also a mother. She gracefully raised ka”H eight children that are changing their corners of the world in their unique ways. But more than that, she modeled pride and joy in being a mother – the kind of pride and joy that my generation has to work towards.
She embodied the tznius, aidelkeit, and yiras shamayim that is unique to the Jewish mother. And she was also connected to the Rebbe and his mivtzoim which is unique to a Lubavitcher mother.
As we embark on this journey and change the lives of the mothers living in Crown Heights, it is all in tribute to the special mother that my Bubby was.
It is only thanks to our generous donors, friends and family that we are able to make this dream a reality. Specifically my parents, Avraham and Tzivia Friedman, and my in-laws, Shimon and Yehudis Leiter. Their support comes in many shapes and forms.
The beautiful furniture throughout the center was generously sponsored by TOV furniture in loving memory of Hindi Krinsky, of blessed memory.
Our doors are to open in the next few weeks b’ezer Hashem. Stay tuned for more details.

It is so inspiring to see how people like you are doing such wonderful projects for our community. I would love for this project to grow into a kimpeturin heim. Although Im a grandmother now, I was fortunate to have had the benefit of being at the kimpeturin heim in Seagate. I really wish for my granddaughters to have the benefit of such a place.
What a wonderful idea!
What were some of the recipes for Bubby Friedman’s success?
Thank you for welcoming us to be part of your ingenious family project !
Thank you for welcoming us to be part of your ingenious family project!
I came back just to comment. I checked out the website, and this is really special! Crown Heights is lucky to have such a resource. Much continued hatzlachah!
Mothers of Crown Heights is the best thing that has happened in our community. Starting with the surprise package after birth, which was so touching, to the website which is so well done and thought out. What an incredible initiative. This is so appreciated. Wishing all those involved much Bracha in return for all the support they don’t even know they provide by even just having the website up.
Would it be possible to add more about a baby boys birth? All there is to plan, arrange, details to remember, what’s most important to do as soon as baby is born etc (obviously regarding Sholom zachor, bris etc)
Thank you!!
Such an amazing undertaking and accomplishment for a young couple!!
