Superstar Chassidic singer Avraham Fried brought the house down at Sunday’s Soul to Soul Concert in Crown Heights.
The sold out show at the Brooklyn School of Music featured Fried, who had not performed at Soul II Soul since 5770, performing his old and new hits, spanning his 38 year career in Jewish music.
Song after song was greeted with delighted applause, with many songs being sung entirely by the enthusiastic standing-room only audience.
Fried also jumped into the crowd, connecting with old and young in the audience with his trademark warmth.
The show, directed by Musical Director from Israel Yuval Stupal, accompanied by the new Chavivin Choir, included a great variety of songs, ranging from the classics “Kel haodaos” and “Forever One”, to the latest hits “Hineni Biyadcha” and “Bring The House Down.”
Interspersing his songs with stories both personal and inspiring, many in the audience were moved to tears more than once during the evening.
The evening concluded with the entire audience up on their feet, many breaking into joyous Chassidic dance.
The evening’s journal was dedicated in memory of R’ Moti Scheinfeld OBM, a member of the Soul to Soul board and choir member who passed away this year. Fried also gave special tribute to R’ Eli Lipsker, famed composer and musician who recently passed away, who was one of the first to recognize the singer’s talent many years ago.
During the evening, the show’s producers Shmuly and Tzirl Goldman announced that businessman Dudi Farkash will serve as the organization’s new executive director, who will take the organization to the next level.
