100 student leaders and activists from many Jewish campus organizations gathered at the Chabad GW Townhouse in Washington, DC, for a special event with Israeli former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
Bennett, who is in the US on a major media tour, spoke of his fondness for Chabad, and how they brought his parents back to Yiddishkeit through his positive Jewish educational experiences in a Chabad preschool in Montreal as a child.
He also shared his keen insights into the current situation in Israel, and urged the students to stand strong and build on the amazing new and developing unity of the Jewosh people.
Most importantly, he gave the students real strength to stand up in the face of adversity on campus, which has become unbearable.
Among those who participated were Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Executive Vice President of American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad), and Founder of Chabad GW, and Mrs. Nechama Shemtov, Rabbi Yehoshua Hecht, Director of Chabad at American University, Rabbi Menachem and Racheli Shemtov – Chabad Georgetown on Washington Circle, Rabbi Eli and Ettie Shemtov of J-Grads Chabad DC and Chabad Young Professionals, GW Hillel Director Adena Kirstein, AU Hillel Director and Hillel International Board Member Jason Beckendorf.
In attendance were leaders of Chabad GW Student Board, GW for Israel, Georgetown Israel Alliance, Chabad Georgetown Student Board, GW Student Association Government, Chabad AU Student Board, Israel on Campus Coalition, University of Maryland Student Government President Ayelet Halbfinger, and others.
