Former Governor Andrew Cuomo, now a New York City mayoral candidate, visited Crown Heights Tuesday for a meeting with a diverse group of community leaders and educators. The meeting, held in the Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) conference room, focused on key issues affecting both the broader New York population and the Jewish community.
A key topic of discussion was Yeshiva education, particularly the ongoing debate over substantial equivalency. Attendees also raised serious concerns about the city’s special education system—specifically the burdensome requirement for families to reapply each year to qualify for support—as well as the growing housing crisis.
Governor Cuomo reflected on his father’s deep connection to the Crown Heights community and his longstanding friendship with Rabbi J.J. Hecht. He voiced strong support for Yeshiva education and reaffirmed his unwavering solidarity with Israel.
The dialogue also included a candid exchange about the community’s experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, with participants sharing their concerns about what they felt went wrong.
Following the meeting, Governor Cuomo toured 770 Eastern Parkway, where the Lubavitcher Rebbe famously distributed dollars, and also visited the communications room, where he was given the gift of a photo of his father receiving a dollar from the Rebbe.

The facts are, you have to look at the reality. Right now, the polls are not looking good for Mr Adams… We can’t just wake up after the election and start trying to make friends with whoever wins. We have to be proactive and engage with all candidates so they are Gillian with our community and hear our voices.
Eric Adams has pushed bike lanes, crazy garbage rules like composting, new garbage cans, putting out garbage after 8. and has been horrible on stopping hamas supporters from marching without permits. Cuomo is a friend to many askanim.
Please remember what the MURDERER Cuomo ימ”ש did. He killed over 15000 Seniors ( including my Mother הי”ד who suffered greatly) when he forced Nursing Homes to take in Covid patients from hospitals & thereby spread in to other patients in the Nursing Homes.

Our loyalty is with the present Mayor Eric Adams.
Coumo was vicious against Shuls and Yeshivos during Covod.
He also lied over and over again about the nursing home murders.
He sent COVID patients to Nursing Homes so they could transmit their illness to healthy elderly patients there.
Why, because he did not want to use the alternatives given to home by Trump. ie a Army hospital boat and dedicated federal areas in Manhattan.

Remember: He forced the Nursing Homes to take in COVID patients. The nurses and Doctors did not know what did pandemic did r was. So the Nursing Home medical and maintenance staff abandoned their jobs. Leaving a tiny staff to care for both their regular resident patients and the new COVID inflicted people.
