A new eatery is opening up in the heart of the Crown Heights Jewish neighborhood offering a quick joint to have a bite – no forks and knives necessary.
Prime Sandwich’s concept is based on the Subway chain and the Schnitzly store on Coney Island Avenue: They will be serving schnitzels in a 1-foot baguette with a salad on the side.
Kosher supervision will be given by Crown Heights Kosher (CHK).
“We are bringing a fresh take on food to Crown Heights,” the owner Yossi Gershowitz told COLlive.com Thursday as an awning was being placed on the store front on Kingston Avenue.
“We will be able to seat 30 people there and the European inspired decor will definitely be unique,” he said. “There is always a need for more eateries,” he explained.
Gershowitz said his bistro is not trying to fill the void of Esther’s Party Grill on Albany Avenue, which closed last year. “We are offering quick food, saving you a trip to Flatbush.”
Plans are to open its doors before Rosh Hashana 5772.
Oh so now we reached a new low where in order to be sarcastic…… one may drag The REBBE into your sarcasm… if thats what it was??!!!.Isnt anything Holy IN Lubavitch anymore???
BS:D omg can’t wait to pig out (oops), I mean chicken out.Good Shabbos to one and all.
Extraordinarily ugly, what are they thinking? True, Kingston Ave. isn’t exactly a landmark district … but how about some class?
I’m assuming neither of you have ever heard of sarcasm…
Number one was sarcastic don’t go crazy
I can see the conversation behind its name right now:
“Nu, Mendel, what should we call this new restaurant?”
“Something classy – what’s a fancy restaurant?”
“Prime Grill is real classy.”
“Yah, I like the name – but steak is too expensive. What’s cheap?”
“Sandwiches are cheap…”
“Perfect – so Prime Sandwich it is!”
Interesting bunch of comments. Nobody has mentioned price. I hope this place will be affordable. It’s nice when a new place opens and you can afford to eat there with your family. I was excited when Empire grill opened, thinking it would be kosher delight style, but the prices are not!
To 26 & 27: I guess the irony and sarcasm was too subtle for you.
who are they replacing?
for heavans sake… what makes the rebbe proud is not another place to eat… please open any volume of his works, let him have an opinion on what makes him proud.
Have much hatzlacha with your buisness !!! and I mean that !!! but Leman Hashem WHY ALWAYS DRAG THE REBBE INTI IT “THE REBBE WILL BE PROUD OF THIS” MY humble thought is if one would only look at what the Alter Rebbe said in the basic Tanya Lekutei Torah… what happened to nisht noch gebeb taivos? Hiskafia Vehisapchah What the Mashpis REb Nisin Nemenov said Broit iz a guten zach Putter iz a guteh zack Ober zuzamen befeirsh nisht!!!!! translated Bread is good butter is good but together 100 percent not The rebbe is the maleh mokim from all… Read more »
thats what Im saying
If respectible adults eat there, the “hangout” crowd will stay far away.
There was a milchig baguette store on Kingston years ago – my kids used to call the the “qualer/half” store because the guy behind the counter was always asking if you wanted a 1/4 or a 1/2 sandwich. I hope they will offer that here – I sure can’t eat 12″ of sandwich!
Anyway hatzlacha rabba to the owners.
Please don’t rush me in line. Neeeeext….!
to #3 you mean fish fry and to #9 i never knew metal could be tsnius and#1 you are awesome!!!
some of us pride ourselves on staying thin..this is gonna be tough!
but i think ur website name is already taken..
Kingston still looks like it’s in construction! When is it finally coming to an end! I hate the street and sidewalks opened up.
Finish up already!
A Kosher Delight opened in Crown heights
what you’re suggesting may actually be a good idea. in addition to the usual greasy spoon stuff served at fast food chains perhaps this place can also offer a healthful salad and fish bar. why not go in and suggest it to the owners, it could turn out to be a moneymaker.
Why wouldn’t you also offer a deli subway sandwich ?
nice sign… I like the new fresh look of kingston ave
What ch needs, is a quality food locale.. places like mendy’s, empire grill etc.. may be nice for some.. but what about quality, fresh and healthy food not loaded with transfat and grease
what’s wrong with wanting the community to look nice?
Yum, I can’t wait.. I love that kind of food!!
BS:D to #2
I am sure that they thank you for your good wishes
same to you and many more
why don’t you wish the success you j
Simple. Just don’t come by. No need for your comments – arrogant as beef jerky!
I think the tznius committee in CH should take note of the store signs. Each one is competing with the next in the contest of who can have the loudest, ugliest, biggest sign.
What happened to class?
what was at this store before?
And if it becomes a hangout…
signitny.com company owned by tzali vishedsky and david cohen
Keep em coming I love ch!!!
Who made the sign?
hope it doesn’t become a hang out for the fry crowd
how many fast food places do we need in CH? they will be out of buiz by the end of tishrei after all the guests leave!
Wow! Crown Heights has now arrived, and is worthy of being on the map. This great achievement will make the Rebbe really pround of his sh’chune. Yasher Koach Mr Gershowitz. And the really good news is that Crown Heights and all the orchim will be able to eat foot-long chicken sandwitches before Rosh Hashanna. A perfect hachono for the Yom HaDin.
