Following US President Donald Trump’s tribute to the Rebbe on Gimmel Tammuz, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did the same on his social media accounts.
In a message posted on Facebook, X, Instagram and Telegram, Netanyahu shared a video produced by JEM about his connection to the Rebbe.
Netanyahu wrote the following:
Today, the 3rd of Tammuz, I see before my eyes the towering figure of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who served for decades as the seventh leader of Chabad Chassidim.
During the time I represented the State of Israel in diplomatic positions in the United States, I was privileged to meet a Lubavitcher Rebbe face to face.
The sight of his penetrating, intelligent eyes is etched in my memory.
His speech was measured, but every sentence that came out of his mouth turned out, over time, to be the absolute truth.
When the Rebbe heard about my plans to run for a seat in the Knesset, he provided me with a blessing on the way: “You will have to fight with 119 people. You certainly won’t be impressed by this, because G-d is on this side. Blessing and success, a gift from God – blessing and success.”
It has been 31 years since the Rebbe was not with us in person, but his sublime spirit is present among us more than ever.
The institution of emissaries around the world is expanding. Chabad houses on every continent and in every country are open to every Jew.
The fire of love for Israel burns in the hearts of all who belong to this wonderful Chassidim.
Now, with the conclusion of Operation Am Kalavi, the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s tough approach to security issues is receiving renewed confirmation.
The Rebbe advocated a resolute stand against our enemies, by repelling those who seek our souls who rise up against us to destroy us, and in steadfast defense of our right to deepen our roots in all parts of the Land of Israel.
May the flame of Jewish faith and pride associated with the legacy of the Lubavitcher Rebbe continue, with G-d’s help, to spread immense light for generations to come.
