Rabbi Schneur Oirechman, Director of Chabad of the Florida Panhandle in Tallahassee, marked his 50th birthday on the auspicious day of 13th of Tammuz — the Chag HaGeulah.
He spent is in Washington, DC, where he and his wife Shlucha Chanie Oirechman met with several Florida senators and congressional representatives.
They were joined for parts of the visit by Rabbi Levi Shemtov, executive vice president of American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) and senior Shliach in the nation’s capital.
During the visit, the Shluchim presented Congressman Randy Fine with a pair of tefillin and helped affix a mezuzah to the door of his office — two mitzvos that represent Jewish identity and spiritual protection.
The delegation also visited Senator Rick Scott, the staff of Attorney General Ashley Moody, and the office of Congressman Jimmy Patronis.
In addition, they gifted framed portraits of the Rebbe to both Senator Scott and Congressman Fine. Both were deeply moved by the gesture and proudly placed the Rebbe’s photo on their desks.
“These moments remind us that Jewish tradition isn’t only preserved in books or shuls — it lives and shines wherever we bring it,” said Rabbi Oirechman. “As the Rebbe taught, even one mitzvah can illuminate an entire space and bring meaning and connection to daily life.”
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to share that light in the heart of our nation’s capital,” Rabbi Oirechman concluded.
