Joshua Soudakoff of Jewish Deaf Multimedia based in Los Angeles organized a booth to reach out to Jewish deaf at the Deaf Nation Expo in Riverside, California, last week.
Besides giving out free Jewish calendars and flyers about their website, organizers also offered visitors the opportunity to do a mitzvah.
The group distributed free Shabbat candle kits for all the Jewish women who visited the booth, offered visitors to give Tzedakah, and men were offered the chance to put on tefillin.
One 79 year old man visited the booth, and put on tefillin for the very first time in his life. He was jokingly told not to wait another 79 years for the next time.

A Bochur told me that during Pesach Merkos Shlichus he had the opportunity to put on Teffilin with an 87 year old man, who is married to a shikse. It was his first time putting on teffilin.
Great Job Yehoshua. Keep up the good work.
