Thirty years ago, eight Bochurim from Oholei Torah along with a Rosh Yeshiva were sent by the Rebbe to establish a Yeshiva in Casablanca, Morocco.
Last week they met in Crown Heights to commemorate that very special day 30 years ago.
The kevutza included Rabbis Liebel Shochat, Rosh Yeshiva – Caracas, Venezuela, Yechiel Yosef Cietlin – Montreal, Mendel Eidelman – Crown Heights, Yehoshuah Binyomin Goldman – Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Menachem Matusof – Calgary, Alberta, Dovid Abba Mochkin – Rochester, NY, Shmuel Pewzner – Harrisburg, PA, Yossi Polter – Acton, MA and Mendel Raskin – CSL, Que.
The reunion began at the Ohel, where a Pan Kloli was read thanking the Rebbe for the special Zchus of being a Shliach of the Rebbe. The group proceeded to Gan Eden Hatachton, where the Sicha that the Rebbe said to the Kevutzah 30 years ago, before they left to Morocco was replayed. The day concluded with a Seudas Hodoah and Chassidishe Farbrengen at the home of Rabbi and Mrs. Eidelman, which continued late into the night.
The Shluchim all went home inspired, with a feeling of Achdus and hiskashrus to their Mishalaich.
I met them all, since the first day they arrived in Morocco.
My school Ozar Hatorah was facing the Yeshiva. I have a lot of good memories. I miss you guys.
