The Los Angeles Jewish Ladies Chorale (LAJLC), a non profit organization, was founded in 2017 by two mothers, Alexandra Blaker and Chaya Rochel Lipsker, who are both passionate about singing. LAJLC gives musically talented Jewish women the opportunity for creative expression and camaraderie, while bringing spiritual unity and inspiration to the community.
Our vision was for a dedicated group of talented women to learn and rehearse a variety of Jewish music, composed and directed by professional musicians, in preparation for at least twice yearly events throughout the Jewish community. Our mission continues to be to uplift others with the words and melodies from the rich collection of both ancient and modern Jewish music, in a context of sisterhood and unity.
Throughout our community, there are many incredibly talented women who are singers, musicians and composers. Many of these women value modesty and choose to sing only to all-female audiences. These women have limited musical outlets, but unlimited inspiration to share. They have long wished for the opportunity to perform and build musical skills using all Jewish music. From our initial outreach through social media in January 2018, over sixty women responded with strong enthusiasm to our auditions, confirming that indeed the Los Angeles Jewish Ladies Chorale fills a need that has been unmet for far too long.
Since our inception, we have exceeded our own expectations, singing to audiences in a variety of non-profit venues, as well as private gatherings to commemorate the yearly holiday cycle. We believe in lending our voices to important causes within the Jewish people, to uplift the weary and inspire others whose voices have become weak through our difficult time in history.
This summer, we recently dedicated a concert to the legacy of Lori Gilbert Kaye, of blessed memory, who was killed in an anti-semitic tragedy in Poway. Her life was all about giving, friendship and love, and we wish to follow in her footsteps with our musical work.
During the past year, we brought joy to the kids of Chai Lifeline, an amazing organization that supports families facing serious pediatric illness and loss. We held a fundraiser concert in honor of the Friendship Circle, who give love to families with special needs. This Fall, we are looking forward to singing and dancing with Holocaust Survivors at the Cafe Europe Program as well as visiting and singing for the ladies at Chabad of Poway, in celebration of Lori Kaye’s life. We will also be singing for a Nshei Chabad event in Los Angeles.
With the incredible dedication of our musical arranger and composer Ita Rabinowitz from Jacksonville, Florida, we have developed a repertoire of many lovely songs that strike spiritual yearnings and emotional bonds with others. We look forward to continuing our growth and spreading our message of unity through music for years to come.
Our family-environment choir is open to Jewish women ages 25+ to express their talent and creativity. Auditioning for LAJLC means that you have the time and “coach-ability” to be a part of a dynamic, diverse group of ladies – a team in a sense – who are interested in the commitment, collaboration and professional arts of being part of our community choir.

Using your talents for good! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Your amazing! You take a dream and make it reality!!
One of the things I love about this country, the USA, is that according to Civil Law, a woman can have a recording contract from a very young age. Im’Hashem the Frum community will catch up w/the secular laws regarding women singing/speaking in public for other women, and not put such a terrible stigma on it. G-d bless these women, and im”Hashem we should do the same in Crown Heights.
It can’t be done as something to tick off on a checklist as part of ‘catching up’ to anyone. These people really wanted to sing so they went and did it!
I love this choir it has such a meaningful powerful lesson for everyone and their talent is remarkable I enjoy it so much it takes me to another place tx
