Camp Chomeish of New England is the first Chabad overnight camp to officially announce that they will be opening on time, for the full summer.
“With thanks to Hashem, and with the Rebbe’s brachos, the board of directors of Camp Chomeish is pleased to share that Camp Chomeish of New England, located in Moodus CT, will, b’ezras Hashem, open on time and for the full summer, beginning June 30th,” they said.
The camp will follow the guidelines provided by the state’s licensing agency, the State of Connecticut OEC.
This is good news for parents who were worried about the possibility of a summer without camp, and will bring relief to the hundreds of children cooped up now in their homes and very anxious to run around outside.
“True Ahavas Yisroel is the foundation and philosophy for everything that happens in camp,” says Rabbi Sholom Ber Stock, who along with Rebbetzin Chaya Stock has been directing Camp Chomeish since its inception.
Chasidishkeit is infused into every aspect of the camp experience from simple cheering to special events. The joy of Yiddishkeit is palpable. In Camp Chomeish, every camper and staff member is treated like family. Together with a great team of program directors, they established a beautiful camp atmosphere where everyone is accepted and they work hard to preserve these values today, despite tremendous growth over the past decade.
Though the first session is BE”H completely full, there are still some spots open for the second month beginning July 27th. For more information and to register please go to the camp website: http://www.campchomeish.com or call Rabbi Stock at 203-816-0770.
What are the guidelines that your camp will need to go by?
The guidelines from the state of CT seem to be very strict. More details are coming next week. They’re going to have to keep social distancing, which is not such a plausible task at an overnight camp.
I love the lechatchile ariber approach. Was there a notice that CT will be opened up in June?
Yay!!
This is amazing news 🙂

If everyone is checked before camp, no trips and no visiting days, I’m sure all will
Be okay. I’m so happy for my granddaughter. She’s the best and deserves a great summer!

Yay best news of the week!
Before you announce that you’re going to open maybe first find out what the guidelines are. In other words if you have to social distance it’s not so practical to open.
Do u know what the guidelines are? …may I ask. Who said they dont know? 😉
This is amazing !!!
Wishing you much Bracha and Hatzlacha! Mrs. G.
bezh will lead to other overnight camps and CGIs opening as well!
Real kudos to the camps for taking this on, considering how important this is for both the children and parents alike at this time. And it’s most definitely not going to be easy. It would really be amazing if leaders (or any common folk with the ability) in our community could now take initiative and help set up a fund to help people send there kids to camp. It’s undoubtedly going to be more difficult then usual to pay for the costs of the camps, and I think the camps are doing enough by just enabling this to happen, for… Read more »
Would love to register my daughter, but I don’t see a COVID refund Clause? Please add that to protect all of us. In case the CDC does not allow it & we lose all our money.

SUMMER CAMPS
Beth Bye, the commissioner of the state Office of Early Childhood, said Monday that summer camps could open on June 29 with strict public health guidelines in place. The governor’s office later clarified that would not include overnight camps.
Sleep over camps are called residential camps, the state clearly says that all camps are the same. And specifically included sports and residential camps in the guidelines dozens of CT camps are opening you can Google it. As per the virus. Children are not at risk. And most of the families already had the virus.
