The third annual Matzah bake at The First Station took place before Pesach in Jerusalem.
This year, the theme was unity. Families from all around Jerusalem and all sects of Judaism were invited to join both Friendship Circle of Central Jerusalem, and Friendship Circle of South Jerusalem, to partake in baking a huge Unity Matzah. These groups joined together seamlessly to enjoy the spectacular event and pure holiday joy.
The program began with a fabulous Pesach show which kept every child at the edge of their seats and thoroughly entertained! It started with the story of Pesach with a humorous twist, and ended with a demonstration of how to bake schmurah matzah. Now, everyone was ready to roll up their sleeves and try it themselves!
The First Station buzzed with excitement as around 300 guests, and tens of incredible volunteers, began kneading and rolling out the dough. Children of all ages and abilities worked together with the volunteers to race the clock and create one enormous unity matzah! Additionally, every child made their own, personal matzah that was baked on the spot and ready to go!
With pizza and ice cream in hand, all stood around in awe as the biggest matzah they had ever seen was lifted up and blow torched to a perfect crisp.
