Please fasten your seatbelt… and Mazal Tov!
Rabbi Israel Lieberman, Director of Chabad of Kowloon, an urban area in Hong Kong, boarded an El Al flight this week from China to Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport.
Accompanied by his young children, the Shliach was headed to the Holy Land to join his wife Menucha Lieberman who was pregnant and in her ninth month. The two are Israeli born and have family in Israel.
Before leaving, he thanked community members in the Kowloon Peninsula for taking an active role in organizing Chanukah celebrations this year and told them he looks forward to sharing good news.
He just didn’t expect it to receive the news midair.
On the flight, Rabbi Lieberman connected to the in-flight wifi internet only to receive the news that his wife has just given birth to a baby boy at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
“Mazal Tov! Baruch Hashem we just had a beautiful and healthy baby boy!!
Menucha and the baby are doing great,” the excited father later posted on Facebook.
During the flight, Rabbi Lieberman shared the news with his children and fellow passengers. One of them was an El Al executive who was quick to have flight attendants open a bottle of wine to wish Mazal Tov!
