You open the closet, looking for something to wear. You try mixing tops and bottoms, but the outfit doesn’t look right. The closet is bursting with pieces, but nothing seems to mesh. What’s a girl to do?
Enter Lana’s – Lannie Althaus’s brand-new clothing shop on President Street in Crown Heights. There, you’ll find tznius casual outfits, dressy gowns, and Yom Tov wear. No matter your age or budget, you will leave happy.
Althaus has always had a knack for putting outfits together, and she is the go-to girl for fashion tips. “When I got back from seminary, I decided to do my own thing,” she says, “and I always wanted to go into fashion.”
Women trust Althaus, and her following of close to 4K on Instagram @lannieonthedaily, receive fashion tips and inspiration from her each week.
This past August, Althaus opened Lana’s on President Street. “I want people to walk out wearing something exclusive,” she says. New arrivals are shipped in each week, and she keeps her stock limited to just a few items. “You won’t be wearing what everyone else is wearing.”
For Althaus, variety is key. She sells brand-new items, designer, vintage, and consignment.
When you walk into her store, you can’t help but feel confident and relaxed. The soft music, gold and teal decor, and large mirrors lend a feeling of luxury. You will smell the aroma of homemade cookies which Althaus bakes just for her customers.
On display are outfits that Althaus curates to be used as fashion inspiration. Sometimes, customers like the outfits so much that they buy the entire ensemble.
“I was helping one-woman shop,” Althaus says, “and she walked out with three bags of clothing. There was a glow on her face. Her smile came from knowing that she could get dressed and feel good about herself.
Since Lana’s is geared towards women of all ages and budgets, you’ll find a sweater that you love for $39, and designer dress for $400. In addition to clothing, Lana’s carries accessories such as sunglasses, bags, shoes, and boots.
Those interested in consignment are welcome to book an appointment and bring up to twenty designer or vintage items for evaluation.
Follow Althaus on Instagram where she posts new arrivals.
“So many times, someone walks out with an entire wardrobe,” says Althaus. “It makes me happy when women have a smile on their face because of something I chose for them.”
Lana’s is located at 1458 president between Kingston and Albany and is open:
Sunday 12-5
