Businessman Dudi Farkash has embarked on a special mission, and is on a flight headed to Israel on Wednesday, the day before Lag BaOmer.
Farkash, a philanthropist and founder of Chabad of Olympia in Monsey, New York, will be representing the Hatzalah organization in Miron and at the gravesite of Rabi Shimon Bar Yochai, whose yartzeit we mark on Lag BaOmer.
He will be attending the hadlakah – lighting of the bonfire in Miron and will be featured in a live feed from there to be shown at the Hatzalah-thon event on Thursday evening.
Farkash of RFK Financial, a corporate sponsor of the Hatzalah-thon, says the mission is a “holy Shlichus.”
He says it’s the first time he will be in Miron for Lag BaOmer, even growing up in Israel, since he was “always busy with organizing parades in Israel.”
“This is finally an opportunity for me, and is the minimum I can do, to thank all the members of the Hatzalah organization and give back,” Farkash told COLlive.
“Since RFK and Mass Mutual partnered to help support Hatzalah, for the first Torah last year and now the second Unity Torah, this is a zchus for me and something close to my heart,” he said.
“I will be at the Hadlakah of the fire and will be at R’ Shimon Bar Yochai, and I will be praying for every Hatzalah member and their families, and every single donor to the campaign, for hatzlacha and blessings for children, prosperity and livelihood.”
Tune in to the Hatzalah-thon event, Thursday, April 29, 2021 on Hatzalahthon.com and on COLlive.com.
The worldwide Hatzalah-week has been launched with the goal of raising $15 million dollars for Hatzalah branches around the world. 56 Hatzalah branches have joined the campaign.
