With many of their wives and family members in the Catskills and camps, Crown Heights men were free to spend Monday night at farbrengens marking Yud Beis and Yud Gimmel Tammuz.
One farbrengen took place at the home of Rabbi Meir Shimshoni on Brooklyn Avenue for members of Congregation Beis Shmuel Chabad. It was dedicated to the yahrzeit of Shimshoni’s father.
Leading it was Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Groner, a Shliach in Melbourne, Australia, who shared stories and words of inspiration. Earlier that evening, Beis Shmuel members toured the JEM photo exhibit “770 Through Yossi’s Lens.”
Another farbrengen in the neighborhood was led by Rabbi Levke Kaplan, leader of The Shul on Albany Avenue and director of TorahCafe.com, who spoke in depth about the mesiras Nefesh of the Frierdiker Rebbe.
R’ Meir Shloma Junik, whose family served the Rebbe’s household, shared some personal stories about the Rebbe and Rebbetzin from his special vantage point.
The evening was filled with achdus and simcha at the end everyone left filled with inspiration, one participant said.
