For more than 30 years Rabbi Simcha Werner, a Shliach in Monsey, NY, has been arranging Farbrengens for the Chassidic community on Sukkos with distinguished Mashpiim.
Among those who took the time to speak to the crowd in the past were Reb Mendel Futerfas, Reb Zelig Feldman, both OBM, and Reb Yoel Kahn, Reb Yossel Wineberg and others.
This year, history was made as the annual Farbrengen took place just one property over from Rabbi Werner’s home, at the Satmar community’s Sukkah in the heart of Monsey.
It drew an unprecedented crowd and went on until the wee hours of the morning. “When you make a bigger Keili you draw greater lights,” said Rabbi Werner, who organized the event.
Leading the Farbrengen was Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Ofen, Mashpia in Yeshivas Toras Emes Chabad in Jerusalem.
The property of the Beis Medrash Vayoel Moshe of Satmar, the location of the Farbrengen this year, is located directly behind the Lubavitcher Center and Shul in Monsey during the 1970’s and 80’s.
Once a place where the boundaries weren’t very peaceful – to say the least – between the two communities, it was truly remarkable and it is a clear indication of the strides Lubavitch and Satmar have achieved in recent years.
If Sinas Chinom is the cause for the procrastination of the coming of Moshiach, then he must not wait any longer, Botol Hamisuvev Botel Ha Sibah, Rabbi Werner added.
