Over 120 ladies attended the annual cooking demo, featuring celebrated cookbook authors, at Chabad of Dollard in Montreal directed by Rabbi Leibel and Chana Fine.
On Monday night, they hosted Norene Gilletz, a household name in Canadian Jewish homes; and the author of Second Helpings Please, The Food Processor Bible, Healthy Helpings and Norene’s Healthy Kitchen.
Keeping with the theme, “Fast, Fabulous and Healthy”, Norene presented easy recipes and techniques for quicker food prep and healthier eating. The evening began with hot cups of carrot and sweet potato soup followed by a sensational red eggplant dip.
Following the demo, the women were treated to a full dinner buffet, with Maple Glazed Salmon, Cranberry Quinoa Salad, Asian Coleslaw, and of course, the desserts: chocolate rugelach and apple crostata made with Norene’s easy and versatile Flaky Ginger Ale Pastry.
It was a special moment for Norene and lots of her Facebook fans, as they got to meet face to face for the very first time. Norene’s cookbooks were sold at the event, and were signed with personal messages by Norene herself.
Several women brought their old cookbooks, some of them dating as far back as the 1960’s, for Norene to sign.
