The family of Holon’s Chief Rabbi Yochanan Gurary, one of the Rebbe’s Shluchim to Israel who is gravely ill, issued a public request for prayers as he faces a serious medical condition.
Rabbi Gurary, whose full Hebrew name is Chaim Eliyahu Yochanan ben Sheina Taama, is in urgent need of a refuah sheleima, a complete and speedy recovery.
In a message released on Friday, the family called upon women and girls around the world to mention his name during Shabbos candle lighting, a time traditionally reserved for heartfelt personal prayers and blessings.
They are also asking that in Eretz Yisrael, during the Birchas Kohanim (Priestly Blessing), the Kohanim and the congregation have Rabbi Gurary in mind, emphasizing that “many depend on him.”
The family asked for this request to be shared widely so that many can participate in this united call for compassion from Heaven.
