Family members of Rabbi Shraga Herzog OBM, a respected member of the Chabad community in London, England, marked his first yartzeit on the 19th of Iyar.
Rabbi Herzog, who passed away at the age of 88, was born in Czechoslovakia and studied at Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch in Melbourne, Australia.
He first met the Rebbe on the 28th of Elul 5715 when he traveled with 2 other students to spend Tishrei in New York. Upon their return, the Rebbe instructed them to make specific stops in Europe.
That summer, when Arab terrorists struck students of the Vocational School in Kfar Chabad (“Yad Hachamisha”), he was one of the people was were chosen to represent the Rebbe in the delegation that comforted the shaken residents.
After his marriage, he settled in London. He served as gabbai of the Lubavitch Shul in London, England for many years.
Marking his yartzeit, his sons Rabbi Yanky Herzog of Crown Heights, Rabbi Shloime Herzog of London, Rabbi Shmuly Herzog of Montreal, and Rabbi Yisroel Herzog of Nachlat Har Chabad, Israel, gatherd for a Siyum in memory of his neshama. The Siyum on the entire Mishnayos was made by Rabbi Shloime Herzog.
