An emotional but uplifting event in Bethesda, Maryland was attended by hundreds who gathered to remember the life of Shlucha Chaya Zlata Geisinsky obm.
The Torah was completed on Zlata’s first yahrtzeit on the first of Tamuz, and was welcomed at a celebration in her hometown this week.
The two part program titled “Remembering and Celebrating The Life Of Zlata Geisinsky” began with a stirring Hachnasas Sefer Torah for a Torah written in her memory followed by a very joyous concert featuring The Eighth Day (Shmuli and Bentzi Marcus) to celebrate her life.
While the Hachnasa Sefer Torah paid respect to her memory, the concert was a tribute and celebration of her life.
Many families attended the event with their children, remembering Zlata as the beloved Pre-School Director of the Berman Hebrew Academy of Greater Washington.
“The entire community cherished Zlata as as a noble Chabad Shlucha,” said her husband, Rabbi Benzion Geisinsky. “She is remembered for her genuine concern for others and as a person of profound wisdom.”
