Enid (Esther Nessah) Bluestein, a proud Jewish woman activist who lived in Studio City, California, and mother of Sara Chana Silverstein of Crown Heights, passed away.
She was 84.
She was a supporter of Chabad causes with Tzedaka and her passion for activism.
She was a book author, and English teacher, composed music, produced and wrote documentaries about women in prison with the acclaimed journalist and activist Gloria Steinem.
She also wrote copy for the first-ever female TV news anchor Terry Mayo, with whom Enid opened the first all-women’s PR firm in America.
She married Jerry Saperstein, whose father, another revolutionary Jewish man Abe Saperstein, started the Harlem Globetrotters which was the first black basketball team in America.
She was a proud Jewish woman who helped generate women’s rights in the US and was an advocate for the rights of the black community.
She is survived by 3 daughters, 10 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and 3 great-grandchildren.
