Eliyahu Israel, a resident of Williamsburg who built friendships in Crown Heights while working there, passed away on Wednesday, 14 Tammuz 5779.
He was 52.
Mr. Israel worked as a security guard stationed at the Lubavitcher Yeshiva boys school on Crown Street in Crown Heights for a few years, safekeeping both the faculty and the many students crossing its doors. Last year he took a similar job at a school in Boro Park.
“He was friendly and had a good heart,” a relative told COLlive.com. “He would help prepare children for their Bar Mitzvah.”
In fact, Mr. Israel would often read the Torah during the Shabbos minyan at Chabad of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, led by Shliach Rabbi Simcha Weinstein.
He is survived by his parents Benny and Anna Israel; and his siblings Yael Israel, Odeya Israel; Taskila Israel, Lehava Israel, Ketalya Israel, Menashe Israel, all in Brooklyn and Yaffe Newman – Jerusalem, Israel.
The levaya will take place on Thursday afternoon at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun/Yavne Academy Cemetery, Midland Ave, Saddle Brook, NJ.
Shiva will be observed at Odeya Israel’s home on 454 East New York Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

This is terrible . How did he pass away .
So many young people are passing away
Shmuel hanavi as well as Shlomo hamelech also lived to 52. Sometimes people can accomplish their missions in way shorter times than others. BDE

I am not a part of Lubavitcher Yeshiva but I
would like to think staff and students would go to shiva as a sign
of appreciation for his service for the past few years to the yeshiva.

My condolences to the Israel family. Whenever I think about Eliyahu I recall him mimic Howard Cosell’s voice when we(Ketalya and I) played sports during break at Schul. We talked years ago and I will call Ketalya soon. Hibuk Gadol(Big Hug) to the family. Reggie
Eliyahu ben Beni Israel came from an amazing, loving, knowledgeable family of tzadikkim. May Hashem comfort all of his family among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
