Eli Marcus and Ari Hill, from the younger slate of rising Jewish singers, have collaborated on a new dance collection album, Project X, released just in time for the upcoming Purim season.
Produced by veteran musician and producer Yochi Briskman, this is the 17th album in the “X” series. Previous albums have featured, Lipa Schmeltzer, Shloime Daskal, Baruch Levine, Simcha Leiner, and most recently Avraham Fried, amongst others.
“One of the unique aspects of this album is the international collaboration, as well as two different types of Chassidim,” Briskman says.
This is also the first time that Marcus has worked on a studio project with Briskman. “It was a-mechayeh working with Yochi, the efficiency and competency of his work is unparalleled,” said Marcus. “I also enjoyed learning some, new for me, songs. A few old Shwekey songs that I missed and some beautiful Chassidishe nigunim.”
The album features 6 medleys with songs from Shmueli Ungar, Lipa Schmeltzer, 8th Day, Avraham Fried and others. Two Chabad nigunim are featured as well. There’s also a Yiddish version of the popular anthem “Thank You Hashem.”
