“At the end of every year, no matter how many years have passed, each Mechanech needs new energy and inspiration to ensure that next year is better than the year before,” says veteran Mechanech Rabbi Shmuly Turk.
This summer Mechanchim and Mechanchos are doing exactly that, immediately following Gimmel Tammuz, at the Chabad Chinuch Convention. As families are enjoying time in the country and children are in camp, dedicated teachers from around the world will join together in Crown Heights to recharge, reconnect and learn new skills.
The Chabad Chinuch Convention serves to mark 40 years from when the Rebbe initiated Shnas Hachinuch, urging that special effort be made for the Chinuch of every child. As we highlight the strides that have been made in Mivtza Chinuch in the years since, we will be recommitting ourselves to this Mivtza that is so dear to the Rebbe.
“Our teachers are the most important people in our community. We must recognize the impact of their work.” Says Rabbi Zalman Shneur, director of the Menachem Education Foundation. “Teachers are the key to our future.”
Highlighting the event is the gala Chinuch Banquet, celebrating teachers, the winners of the highly anticipated Chinuch Awards will be announced as well.
Teachers will join together for 2 days where they will participate in workshops, seminars and roundtable discussions about bettering the Chinuch of our children. They will hear from an incredible lineup of Chabad’s foremost educators and share their ideas and innovations in the classroom with each other.
Presenters include: Rabbi Yitzchok Wolf, Rabbi Dovid Hazdan, Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum, Rabbi Avraham Granat, Rabbi Zelly Silber, Rabbi Levi Feldman, Mrs. Bronya Shaffer, Mrs. Chavi Goldberg, Mrs. Shaindy Shapiro, Mrs. Nami Friedman, Mrs. Bracha Landa, Ms. Baylie Vail, and Mrs. Dena Gorkin.
“I’ve been dreaming of an event like this for years.” Says Mrs. Bracha Landa, a teacher at Bais Chomesh High School in Toronto and a panelist at the convention. “This is an opportunity to share ideas and innovations to inspire myself and others.”
The Chabad Chinuch Convention will run two fully separate and concurrent programs for men and women.
