Last week, July 13-16, 26-29 Tammuz, over 70 educators from around the world convened in Crown Heights for Menachem Education Foundation’s second annual summer seminar.
“The workshops opened up a new world of possibility for enriching my curriculum assessing and helping build my students’ Chumash skills,” said Ms. Rivka Ginsburg, a participant in the women’s seminar. “It also motivated me to find ways to show my students the importance of skills as the way to discover Hashem’s messages to us, through the words of the Chumash.”
Workshops included Student Engagement through Higher Order Thinking, Unlocking the Chumash: A Primer for the Zekelman Standards for Chumash, and From Skills to Values; and they were led by Rabbi Zelly Silber, Rabbi Zalmy Raskin, Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum and Rabbi Mendy Greenbaum; and by Mrs. Chana Silberstein, Mrs. Blumie Gurevitz, Mrs. Chanah Rose and Mrs. Sara Rosenfeld.
“All of the presenters did a wonderful job at facilitating and creating a safe environment,” echoed a participant from the men’s seminar, Rabbi Meir Gerber. “They maintained control while allowing a tremendous amount of exchange of ideas. The setup helped everyone to become an active participant.”
Time and again, the Lubavitcher Rebbe called for the summer to be a time of growth, learning and development; and for teachers to take advantage of the recess of school for professional development. The summer seminar was part of the 30 Days of Learning initiative of the Menachem Education Foundation. Email us at [email protected] or call us at 718-819-6168 for more info on any of our programs.
