An early morning accident in Crown Heights left 6 vehicles, including the Ahavas Chesed van, damaged on Wednesday.
Volunteers of Ahavas Chesed, who use the van daily to assist residents with travel to medical treatments and appointments, told COLlive they were dismayed to find the van damaged in the morning.
A spokesperson in 71 Precinct said that a vehicle accidentally turned the wrong way into Carroll Street, and to avoid hitting a pedestrian, swerved and lost control. His vehicle then hit another car, which ran into and damaged a parked car. The driver also hit 3 other parked cars, including the Ahavas Chesed van.
The Lieder family, who is continuing the work of their father Rabbi Avraham Lieder OBM after his sudden passing on Rosh Hashana, is raising funds to keep the organizing running.
