42 early childhood education leaders from all over the US and Canada gathered last week for a two day Early Childhood Leadership Conference hosted by DiscoverEd Consulting CEO Chanie Wilschanski.
The event held June 26 and 27 at the Chevra Shul in Crown Heights was catered to Preschool directors and owners who are committed to building a school of excellence.
Over the course of the conference, a packed schedule of content covered topics such as Creating a mission and vision for your school, the structure for monthly staff meetings, staff motivation, the difference between expectations and standards, introducing new programs to staff, time management strategies, and strategies for building a collaborative culture.
Three guest speakers focusing on Leadership, Parent Partnerships and Productivity came to share their wisdom, inspiration and practical strategies that attendees could implement into their schools immediately.
Keynote speaker Lolly Daskal, author of best-selling books and executive leadership coach for Fortune 500 boards and CEOs, spoke about the seven archetypes of leadership and how at any given moment you have a choice to show up as your best.
After her talk she treated several lucky attendees to public Laser-Coaching sessions, helping them work through difficult teacher and parent situations they were facing. One attendee from Pennsylvania said, “This is the first time I’ve ever heard leadership presented like this.”
Another Director from Colorado shared, “She was very inspiring and gave such great information in her RETHINK portion. I always tell my directors that ‘silence is acceptance’- but she actually took it a step further and showed how if you weren’t fitting the description in RETHINK you were its counterpart. I loved that!”
Dr. Yamalis Diaz, a licensed psychologist in the Institute for ADHD at the Child Study Center at NYU. She also specializes in behavioral parent training, helping parents develop effective strategies for managing their child’s attention and behavior problems.
Dr. Diaz shared with attendees the importance and the roadmap to recognizing parents’ values and beliefs. Working with real-life examples from attendees, she helped script conversations that can create alignment with parents to minimize confrontation and focus on solutions in the best interest of the child.
In a humorous and entertaining presentation, Shlucha Rivkah Caroline, author of Frazzled to Focused, shared her Top-10 tips for optimized productivity, giving attendees practical strategies and how to implement them into their daily life. As a Director from Louisiana said, “Rivkah packed a lot of time management wisdom in a short amount of time, I gained great insight from her.”
To help crystallize the practical implementation of these strategies, attendees heard from the EC Leaders in Action panel. These 5 directors and owners shared how they have guided their teachers to take more risks, how the community of directors has strengthened their own motivation and accountability and much more.
As one director from the panel shared, “If not for the strategies and support from Chanie’s Inner Circle, I would have been eaten alive by my competition! These frameworks and systems have given me the ultimate competitive advantage!”
As a parting gift, each attendee received Daskal’s best selling book, “The Leadership Gap”. The event was designed by CG Events and coordinated by the talented Sara Varon.
Attendees will be joining two additional virtual support sessions in August and November to solidify what they learned, tweak their strategies and ensure consistent implementation to get the best results that they desire.
