The presidents of the first and second chambers (parliament and senate) of the Dutch Government in The Hague, Mrs Khadija Arib and Mrs Ankie Broekers-Knol celebrated Chanukah.
Both officials received a menorah from the co-head shluchim of Holland, Rabbi Yitschak Vorst and Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs.
Parliament members of the different political parties attended the menorah lighting ceremony as well as shluchim from across the country.
In a separate event, hundreds of participants came from all over the country to unite and celebrate Chanukah on the most famous square in Holland in front of the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
It was a beautiful and inspiring scene to see hundreds being able to show their Jewish pride, sing and dance together, and enjoy the warm Chanukah atmosphere, organized by Shliach Rabbi Menachem Evers.
With the attendance of rabbis, the new mayor of Amsterdam Mrs. Femke Halsema, Minister of Education Arie Slob, Israeli ambassador Aviv Shir-On and other dignitaries.
