Since the beginning of lockdown due to Covid-19, Shluchim Rabbi Chaim and Sora Jacobs of Lubavitch of Scotland immediately diversified the activities of their restaurant, café and catering facilities.
Instead of people coming to dine in, they have been supplying a full variety of very good quality kosher meals delivered to people’s homes. On the menu are over 20 different main courses plus soups and desserts.
Due to the generosity of several donors and charitable trusts, all meals are sold at budget prices, and food is given free of charge to those in need. Indeed, Lubavitch has been at the forefront of providing free food for those in need.
Lubavitch-L’Chaim’s now sells weekly Shabbos meal bags containing three or four-course meals along with challah rolls and Shabbos candles, and last Shabbos 80 people ordered their Shabbos meals bags.
Plans are in hand to provide a similar service for the yom tov of Rosh Hashona and before and after the fast of Yom Kippur. To avoid disappointment, they encouraged people should register as soon as possible to be on the Rosh Hoshana Food supply list.
Over the past two months, over 200 afternoon Tea Boxes were delivered to people in the community to bring a smile to people’s faces during these very challenging times.
“Whenever health and safety permit, L’Chaim’s, Sora’s Café and L’Chaim’s Kosher Catering look forward to welcoming the community to their facilities and events. At this time we pray daily for the divine global miracle to occur as soon as possible to allow this to happen,” said Rabbi Jacobs.
