As International Drug Day against Drug Abuse was held worldwide, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi took a ceremony marking the event as a chance to launch into an anti-Semitic tirade aimed at Israel.
European diplomats in attendance were shocked as Rahimi said that “Zionists were in firm control of the illegal drug trade” and said that the Talmud, a central text of mainstream Judaism, teaches to “destroy everyone who opposes the Jews.”
The West and Israel strongly oppose Iran’s nuclear programme saying that it is being used to create weapons whilst Iran says it is for peaceful purposes only.
Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman slammed the Iranian vice president’s comments saying that the Iranian leadership is made up of “anti-Semitic fanatics” who want to destroy Israel and that Iran is “endangering world peace.”
“I am appalled by the recently reported anti-Semitic statements made by Iran’s Vice President, Mohammad-Reza Rahimi at an international antidrug conference co-sponsored by the United Nations,” said Congresswoman Yvette Clarke of Brooklyn.
“I add my voice to all people of good will, the Nation of Israel, Jewish citizens around the world, and the community of nations, in condemning these statements,” said the U.S. Representative whose constituency includes Crown Heights.
“Mr. Rahimi and the elected officials of Iran have a moral duty to apologize and to refrain from making such anti-Semitic statements in the future,” concluded a statement by Clarke.

I assure you, the Gemara doesn’t care about any ‘libels’ against it. It will be around long after rahimi’s gone.
