A video clip shared on social media on Monday shows a young Jewish woman in New York City being detained by law enforcement.
The modestly dressed frum woman is seen being asked to step out of the red minivan she was driving, which was reportedly involved in an altercation in Manhattan.
A suited agent is then seen placing handcuffs on her and directing her into a black SUV, as an older frum Jewish woman rushes over to the scene.
A source within the NYPD told COLlive that the department had no involvement in the case.
According to the source, the young woman had struck a vehicle belonging to the entourage of New York Attorney General Letitia James. The situation was handled—somewhat roughly—by members of her security detail.
“She was unlicensed, so they arrested her,” the source said.
By that evening, the young woman had been released and was issued a ticket to pay.

This man not only needs to be fired….. He also needs to be banned from practicing/ being employed in any capacity that involves security, law and detainment. Is it considered a crime when you accidentally hit car? I thought it’s a civil offense and usually the drivers will exchange information so that they one who hit will pay for the damages.

Did you all miss the part of the article that said, “She was unlicensed, so they arrested her,” Since when are you entitled to drive without a license, they were 100% to arrest her. If YOU were hit by an unlicensed driver I am sure you would want them cited and arrested as well. The rules apply to all and being Frum doesn’t give you a special pass.
But the job of the NYS OAG is not to arrest for traffic violations.
This was in the context of a fender-bender where the arresting officer was involved and possibly at fault for driving forward too quickly, or both drivers might be at fault but the arresting agent has a conflict of interest.
Why does Letisha James police force not have body cameras like the rest of NYS cops?
Sure but YOU wouldn’t be able to make the arrest unless you’re a cop which this guy wasn’t. He shouldn’t have been carrying handcuffs in the first place. Whether she broke the law or not is actually irrelevant here.
This was retaliation for a fender-bender which the NYS OAG was involved in and it was conflict of interest to arrest.
NYS OAG cops dont do traffic enforcement.

If the NYS OAG agent did not file a traffic accident report at the scene, because of conflict of interest or that he was a party, or that it’s not something NYS OAG does he had no business making a traffic arrest.

Ice agents have been coming in unmarked cars without any badges and putting children in the back of their vehicles, illegal immigrants or not, it’s just as much of a problem when authorities aren’t showing warrants, badges or wearing uniforms.

Looks like she was trying to park and he (who was parked in the spot behind her) decided to pull out of his spot right then as she tried pulling into to the next spot
Doesn’t look that way at all if you saw the video. The black car was parked. Maybe she was trying to pull away from traffic, closer to the parked cars and got to close to his car
This is completely unreasonable. They should review and release the building’s security footage. It appears she was attempting to park, and he was pulling out of a parking spot. You can even see the position of the large vehicle’s wheels for context.
Even if she was at fault, her insurance company would handle the damages. There’s no justification for such an aggressive reaction—let alone an arrest. On what legal grounds was she even detained?
This false arrest and kidnapping was a hate crime.
First, Investigators in the Office of Attorney General are poluce officers per New York State Law. Most if them are retired NYPD Detectives. Second, security around AG Letita James is nessarily alert due to death threats received against AG James. Third, cars are used as weapons all over the World. I’m no lawyer but AFAIK in NYS first time minor accident by a unlicensed driver would not trigger an arrest unless the driver was driving recklessly or acts belligerent to the cops. There would be major penalties and other legal issues but not arrest
Well now i know to keep a pair of handcuffs in the car so if someone bumps their car into mine i can handcuff them and put them in my backseat
