I ate at his house almost every shabbos when i was in my early twenties he was a mentch with a great sense of humour a kind word and compassion beyond words. My thoughts are with his family at this most dificult time.
My husband’s uncle, Leopold Segelak (Leibe/Sigi), who moved to Australia after the Shoah, was a close friend of Chaim Arye Bloom. Dr. Bloom was also his beloved doctor. We discovered this incredible connection years later, long after our uncle’s petira when Chaim Arye and his wife, Aidel, became our machatanim. Dr. Bloom was a medical practitioner par exellence.Although he had a P.H.D. in medicine he chose to remain as a G.P. where he could help people rather than a more lucrative specialist field . He would work very long hours to take care of all his patients. He was able to diagnose ailments where many others failed. However he was best known for his humanitarian qualities ,home visits ,.the hours he spent perfoming 2000 brisim, treating every patient as though he was his only one never hurring anyone during consultations etc. Even while suffering himself he always managed to help others… Read more »
We were very pained to find out about the passing of our dear friend and doctor, Dr. Bloom. He helped us countless times on our visits to our family in Sydney. He was our doctor away from home dealing with many issues for our whole family. We even called him one time from the U.S.A. for advice. He was always positive, patient, caring and wise and available even for house calls at all times. Not only did he provide us with medical care but he and his family, especially his wife Aidel, provided us with much needed hospitality for Shabbos… Read more »
