Close to 200 people gathered on Lag b’Omer for a double dedication of Two Sifrei Torah at the Wellesley-Weston Chabad led by Rabbi Moshe and Geni Bleich, along with Shluchim Rabbi Mendy and Mushky Bleich.
A beautiful bonfire was lit, great music played by Mendel Kivman of Mansfield, Massachusetts, accompanied by our in-house DJ Larry Falk, and incredible catering by Yoel and Galit of Dushez Catering. Many people put on tefillin and took upon themselves Halchlatos Tovos, all contributing to the incredible Simcha and overall festivities of the night.
One of the most beautiful and emotional moments of the night was doing the double Hagba after welcoming these two Torahs that joined the Wellesley-Weston Chabad.
The Torahs themselves have very special meaning to the Wellesley-Weston community as the first was originally donated by a Holocaust survivor, just weeks before she passed away. It was rededicated in honor of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. The second Torah was dedicated in honor of all the victims of October 7th.
Four couples made this event a reality, namely Zohar and Gabi Illentskey, Eric and Svetlana Silverman, Avi and Almog Binyamin, Phil and Racheel Taussky, who were the pillars of 65 different donors who joined together to make this incredible event happen.
The sense of community and shared effort put into this event was evident just by the sheer number of people who helped facilitate the arrival and dedication of the two Torahs.
