A double circumcision ceremony was held Monday at Chabad of Beijing, China, for twin boys born to the Shluchim Rabbi Mendy and Chanie Raskin.
It was a rare celebration for members of the local Jewish community. A bris is not performed there that often and especially for twins.
Participants meanwhile learned of a halachic debate whether a bracha on the first bris also includes the second.
To be on the safe side, after the first boy was named Shmuel Tzvi, the crowd davened Mincha and the second boy entered the Jewish nation with the name Avraham Mordechai.
The mohel was Rabbi Gideon Kay of Israel.
Beijing’s Head Shliach Rabbi Shimon Freundlich was honored along with Israeli Ambassador Amos Nadai, community members Yitzchok Mendelovitch and Avishai Hacohen and Crown Heights businessman Yossi Malamud.
