In Australian classrooms and North American backpacks, on screens in Europe and in the hearts and minds of young Chassidim all over, a new curriculum has been developed to bring the Rebbe’s mission statement to children in an accessible and meaningful way.
A project of JEM’s Connection Point program, which is made possible by Yossi and Nechama Dina Katz and family, this brand-new Yud Shevat curriculum presents the key messages of the Rebbe’s first Farbrengen upon accepting the Nesius—Yud Shevat 5711. Four focal points of that historic Farbrengen are emphasized: Ahavas Yisroel, Shlichus, Hiskashrus, and Dor Hashvi. These fundamental concepts are sometimes seen as lofty for young minds. But with this all-encompassing learning structure, kids were able to listen to the Rebbe directly, unpack his words in a meaningful, age-appropriate way, and connect with them on their level.
Professionally prepared and thoughtfully designed, the curriculum included worksheets, interactive games, and all necessary materials, making it ready for teachers to the last detail. The lesson plan, dedicated by Michael and Ricki Verbitsky, features relatable presentations that helped children take home the ideas they learned and feel empowered in their unique Dor Hashvi’i mission.
Educators and principals shared enthusiastic feedback. “Basi L’Gani—in the Rebbe’s own voice—was broken down so students of all ages could apply it to their lives. The games and exercises made it an exciting experience the children looked forward to!” said Mrs. Rivkah Fishman, educator at Torah Day School of Houston. “Everything was prepared down to the last detail—my teachers were extremely impressed!” added Rabbi Unsdorfer, principal of Cheder Lubavitch of Arizona. “I reviewed the lesson with my first grader at home, and she had thoroughly understood the topics.”
