A large crowd showed up for the annual Simchas Beis Hashoeve celebration in Flatbush on Tuesday, Tishrei 20, which was organized and held in front of the Mayan Yisroel center on Avenue N in Brooklyn.
A breathtaking fire show, BBQ and a sukkah on-hand and live music with Dovid Stein, Shloimie Kaufman and Mendy Worch made the event memorable and enjoyable to all.
Mayan Yisroel’s leader Rabbi Yossi Vigler welcomed the crowd with divrei torah and encouraged all to join the celebration, also attended by residents of surreounding neighbourhoods like Midwood, Boro Park, Marine Park and Mill Baisin.
A free door prize awaited children who knew the answer to the question posed on the posters for the event, “Why do we put on a tallis before Tefillin?”
The answer: Tadir v’she’ayno tadir, tadir kodem (lit., frequent and infrequent, frequent first). When one performs more than one mitzva at a time, those that are performed more frequently should be performed first. While the tallit is worn daily, tefillin are not worn on Shabbos and yomtov.
The event was co-sponsored by Kold Kuts, Happy Dry Cleaners, Chein Insurance Agency, All State car leasing, J Drugs and Pavilion Electronics,
