All donations to the family of R’ Paz Shusterman, a Lubavitch teacher in Los Angeles who passed away on Pesach, will be matched.
Philanthropists brothers Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz and Yisroel Zev Rechnitz have pledged to match any and all donations up to $18,000.
Their offer ends with the Shiva period.
Shusterman, 37, taught at Yeshivas Ohr Elchonon Chabad and was universally loved by all who knew him.
He left behind a broken and grieving wife Dalia and young children Zackai, Yisroel, Yosef Yitzchok, and newborn baby Sholom Ber, who are reeling with a tremendous need for funds.
The Paz Shusterman Fund was opened under the auspices of Rabbi Shimon Raichik, Rabbi Ezra Schochet, and Rabbi Yosef Shusterman.
Presiding Committee members are Rabbi Levi Raichik, Rabbi Yanky Raichik, Rabbi Yosef Schneerson and Rabbi Eli Vcherashansky.
“The family is in dire need of financial assistance,” an email on their behalf said. “We are urging community members to make a monthly pledge (for as long as you wish.)”
All contributions are tax deductible. Donate online at ChabadofLA.com/PAZ
yes
Will the funds from the paypal link be matched too?
#3 – Why not? It’s called being practical and living in a realistic world. I think it makes good sense, and would allow Tedakah funds to flow to other worthy causes. #10 – You are correct that these sort of threads may not be the most appropriate to lecture people about life insurance, but please do let us know where else you think the message will hit home more. It’s a double tragedy when someone not only passes away, but the remaining family members have the immediate financial stress to worry about too. #12 – One doesn’t negate the other.,… Read more »

horrible tradgedy
At a time like this please do not lecture people about life insurance.
You can’t be serious, requiring life insurance for a Rav to be mesader kuddushin?! We shouldn’t be more religious than the Torah. Life insurance is a good idea, especially in retrospect, but let’s leave it at that.
The extended family are all Baalei Tzedakah. May they be zocheh to help all those in need.
How heartbreaking that these BOYS (!!) will grow up fatherless!
SO SAD YOUNG WIFE AND KIDS
awwwwwwwwww!!!…..sooo cute the kids!!!
any pay pal link for donations?
it still didnt click that he’s gone :'(
Every single Rov or Gabbai should make certain that every member of his Shul has Life Insurance. Plus no Rov should be Mesader Kidushin unless the young man (and women) has insurance. No if and’s or but’s.Moshiach is coming now,but as long as we are in Golus these things unfortunately happen. The Rebbaim teach us that planning for the future is not a contradiction. If someone cant afford it then funds should be given to him. This is just as if not more important than Hachnoses kallah or Kimcha Dpischa. It is way easier and cheaper to pay a few Dollars a month now than… Read more »

Please, please, everyone go out and buy life insurance. It’s a small protection against R”L times like the above. The younger you buy it, the cheaper it is.
