Doctors Come To Hear Rabbi

A weekend of food for body and soul was offered up by Chabad of New Mexico 2 weeks ago, leaving its participants well-nourished.

More than 200 people turned out at the luxurious Hotel Albuquerque for a memorable weekend including delicious four course meals and lots of spiritual insight, organized by Shliach Rabbi Chaim Shmukler.

The guest speaker of the Shabbaton was Rabbi Yitzchok Schochet, a world-renowned speaker and the high-profile British rabbi, who delivered lectures on topics including, “How to Make the Most of Your Life While Alive,” and “Where to from Here – A Glimpse into the Afterlife.”

Several eminent doctors from various fields of medicine turned out for a special keynote in the afternoon entitled: “Whose Life Is It Anyway: Morality at the Frontiers of Medicine.”

Described by one leading surgeon present as fascinating and engaging, the lecture went on for several hours including a frank questions and answers session between the doctors and Rabbi Schochet.

The weekend culminated with a Melaveh Malkah banquet including music by the Shtetle Band and singing by Rabbi Laibl Perlow.

“Boruch Hashem it was fantastic, people loved it,” Rabbi Shmukler summed up the weekend. “We’re still getting lots of positive feedback.”
