Located in Valley Stream, NY, the spacious grounds includes a full-size gym, Shul, auditorium, cafeteria, student lounge, and a special prize store. With a 97-acre State Park nearby, students enjoy strolls, water streams, and playing areas—a perfect backdrop for an enriching and serene educational experience.
As you walk through the Cheder, you immediately sense a warm, welcoming environment combined with the kind and caring nature of the students. From Pre1A to the 8th graders, everyone knows each other and looks out for one another like one big family.
“The Cheder has really been so transformative for our son. We can’t believe what this Yeshiva has done for him. He has blossomed incredibly BH! The environment created by the Hanhola and staff is very Chassidish and sincere. Our son literally jumps out of bed to go to school every day!! We will forever be grateful to your entire team for the work you have put into our son!” – Mrs. DL Kramer – East Flatbush, NY
The Cheder prioritizes character development with a strong emphasis on Ahavas Yisroel, instilling kindness and refinement as fundamental values.
“We’re BH so grateful to our Cheder. Our boys are so happy in school BH. Rabbi Berkowitz goes above and beyond. The school is well run, organized, and efficient. The smaller classes have been great. Our boys are well taken care of and noticed by both their teachers and principals”. – Mendy & Chana Herz, Lawrence, NY.
The commitment to personalized attention, facilitated by smaller class sizes, ensures that every child excels not only academically but also socially and personally.
“BH, our dedicated teachers are passionate about Chinuch Al Taharas Hakodesh, working tirelessly to ensure that every Talmid thrives in their academics and character development. We witness firsthand how the Talmidim develop a love of learning with much confidence and inner happiness.” – Rabbi SZ Berkowitz, Principal
The student body consists of Shluchim from the greater Long Island area, with some commuting three hours daily, along with families from Crown Heights, Queens, and the 5 towns area.
“Strong Chasidishe values are the base of this beautiful yeshiva with focus on Torah learning, davening, and farbrengens. The Menahel and Rebbis emphasize התקשרות לרבי, אהבת ישראל ושמחה and highlight each Talmid’s strengths helping raise the young Bachurim of Cheder into true lamp lighters.” – Ohad & Sharone Meishar – Great Neck, NY.
Students transitioning from larger schools find Cheder at the Ohel to be a transformative experience, thriving socially and academically in the nurturing environment that sets the stage for success in their educational journey.
“Understanding and addressing the individual needs of our students is central to our mission.” – Rabbi Menachem Pinson, 6th-grade teacher.
At the Cheder, your child is not just a student but an individual whose needs are attended to. The students blossom into confident individuals as they are encouraged to embrace their uniqueness and bring out their best selves.
“Cheder at the Ohel has been an amazing experience for my boys. The classes are small to maximize the potential of the students. The staff are incredible. We are very happy with the Yeshiva.” – Rabbi Sholom Ber and Mrs. Chanie Cohen – Stoney Brook, NY
As the school prepares for the new academic year, they invite families to personally experience the warmth and uniqueness of the Cheder.
“We, as parents, are thrilled with Cheder at the Ohel and the overall Chinuch our children receive in all aspects. The Cheder is truly attentive to the needs of all its Talmidim, taking note of and caring for each child as an individual. Our children are learning at very high levels, BH, while also being cared for in all other areas. The warmth and Chassidishkeit that the Cheder is founded upon are felt throughout the day. When you walk into Cheder at the Ohel, you are greeted by the warmth of the Rebbeim and the other Talmidim, enveloping you with the overwhelming feeling of “Chassidim Ein Mishpacha.” – Rabbi Nochum and Mrs. Rivkie Tenenboim, Hewlett, NY

If you’re looking for a small class with individualized attention for your son, this is the school to consider!
From crown heights, the commute is under an hour in the van….
My son used to be an hour on a bus making circles in crown heights! So don’t let that deter your decision to choose Cheder!
We’ve been there for 4 years and every year is better than the previous year
Hatzlacha and thank you to all the dedicated staff that make it amazing!
My boys love going to school !
Thanks to the amazing staff !
Our boys are lucky to attend Cheder at the Ohel. Each morning they are eager to attend and meet their classmates. The Rebbi’s and Principal create a conducive environment to learning and encourage the children to do more. We have so much nachas from seeing our boys grow in different areas. The children are taught to love and care about Yiddishkeit by having role models. Thank you to cheder staff for their tireless dedication to the students.
