The Prague Seminary promises to be a fresh study experience, featuring high-level classes, hands-on shlichus opportunities, and great trips, all in a warm and Chassidishe environment. Rebbetzin Dini Barash, Chabad Shluach in Prague and the director, speaks to COLlive.com:
Mrs. Barash, we are catching you in the midst of preparations for the upcoming year.
There is so much going on now! We have begun interviewing the girls and it is so exciting! The high volume of interest in the amazing new Seminary is incredible.
You have been on Shlichus in Prague for 26 years. When did you get the idea to open a Seminary?
This seminary has been in the works for a number of years. There is a great need for an excellent seminary that includes strong learning and chassidishe values. In the years 2008 and 2010 we ran a successful Smicha program for bochurim, after which we knew that we would one day open a Seminary for girls, giving them too this unique opportunity for a year of relevant learning and personal growth which they would cherish for a lifetime. A program that would prepare them in the best way possible for their roles as future mothers, wives, Shluchos and leaders.
What is the learning curriculum like?
The curriculum includes classes in practical Halacha pertaining to women, Chassidus -Tanya, Rashi Sichos, select Maamarim, women in Tanach, Biur Tefila, Mishna, Da Ma Shetoshiv, Inyonei Moshiach UGeulah, Bayis Yehudi and Parsha. The girls will also be introduced to the fascinating Torah of the Maharal. Each month a Shliach or Shlucha from Europe will come to farbreng with the girls, share about their Shlichus and give a special class.
Being located in the heart of Europe, surrounded by so many beautiful cities and such rich Jewish history, we have designed an amazing itinerary for inspiring monthly trips for the girls to places such as Vienna, Budapest, Krakow… to name a few. Prior to each trip, the girls will enjoy workshops on the history of each place, its great Torah giants – their life, their works and contribution to Yiddishkeit.
What type of girl is the seminary geared towards?
The program is geared to the post-high school girl who is motivated and excited to delve into a year of intense learning, personal growth infused with a hands-on Shlichus opportunity, being involved in organizing and running communal events and activities, Cteen, Chavrusah learning and more.
Tell us about the accommodation facilities:
We recognize the importance of providing for the girls’ physical needs and comforts, to the highest degree. The girls will be housed in a beautiful, fully renovated building in the city center, next to a gorgeous large park. All the girls will be in one location, with a large lounge area and a sprawling backyard.
What about food?
Three delicious and nutritious meals will be prepared for the girls daily, by the chefs of the Chabad restaurants. There is also a kosher grocery store in the city.
How many girls will you be accepting?
We will be accepting 26 girls. We want to keep the group small, to ensure that each girl is given attention and has an opportunity to express herself, her skills and talents. There will also be two dorm counselors. We promise the girls the experience of a lifetime!
