Dinner Unveils New Floor

300 friends and supporters of the Jewish Children’s Museum in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights gathered at the 6 story building on Eastern Parkway on Thursday to celebrate their 6th Annual Dinner.

Participants were privileged to obtain the first look at the museum’s much anticipated new 15,000 square foot expansion, an entire floor dedicated to the history of the Jewish people through the ages.

Tour guides led guests through the exhibits which span the ages, beginning from Abraham and Sarah’s tent, on through the land of Israel, the times of the sages, the ghettos and the holocaust, ending with a large replica of the Kotel in Jerusalem and the days of Moshiach.

Rabbi Yerachmiel Benjaminson, Director of the Jewish Children’s Museum, thanked the guests of honor, which included Mary Jo White, who received the Ari Halberstam Memorial Award, Amri Dossal, Gloria Starr Kins, and Yossi Popack.

Chaim and Rochi Benjaminson, directors of the Young Leadership Committee of the JCM, presented Young Leadership Awards to Ron Wasserman and Michelle Kushner.

Mrs. Devorah Halberstam, mother of Ari Halberstam who was killed in a terror attack on the Brooklyn Bridge, said that “the pain of losing a child never goes away, a hole will always be in my heart. But the Jewish Children’s Museum is proof that hope springs eternal.”

Amir Dossal, a former Director of the United Nations office for Partnerships, said that we must make sure that the world understands that terrorism is unacceptable. He praised the museum for bringing faith-based leaders together and encouraging dialogue.

Politicians present included U.S. Congressman Anthony Weiner, NY State Senator Eric Adams, NYS Assemblyman Carim Camara, and NYC Councilmen Mathieu Eugene, David Weprin, and Lew Fidler.
