Devora Goldman, a longtime fixture in the Crown Heights community, passed away on Monday, 17 Adar I 5784.
She was 69 and battling health challenges.
Devora was mezake many with the mitzvah of tzedaka. For many years, she was stationed outside of the Jewish Children’s Museum on the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue.
She also collected charity in different Jewish communities around the Tri-State area. Devora enthusiastically bentched each person who donated.
She had many health and other challenges during her life and fought bravely throughout, an acquaintance of her told COLlive.com. For the last decade, Devora lived in New Jersey in several nursing facilities.
The levaya will be held tomorrow-Thursday, 9:45 AM at the Mt Richmond Cemetery in Staten Island, NY.

This is so beautifully written. I think I know who you are referring to from my crown heights days. I love the way you say she was mezakeh people with tzedaka.
She was a fighter not a quitter. And it seems from what I heard like she helped other people too.

Devora had so many yisurim. Just like she was upset if people didn’t give and would encourage them to give more, she should beg Hashem to give the world the geula shlaima now.
