Dear Friends,
Today I want to say THANK YOU!
THANK YOU to you who have donated for this Pesach and helped support our great Crown Heights community!
THANK YOU to the local grocery stores that participated in the voucher program, allowing needy families to pay with coupons for Yom Tov.
THANK YOU to the businesses who contributed their resources to help the community.
THANK YOU to all of you who look out for your friends neighbors and relatives in need making sure no one gets left out.
THANK YOU to our community of anash from around the world who are keeping the Rebbe’s dream of making Crown Heights a place where “kan tziva Hashem es habracha”. We live in an extraordinary community where chassidim stand together to support one another.
On behalf of the 500 Crown Heights families who benefited from your generosity this Pesach, I say THANK YOU for partnering with CSSY to assure that no family was left behind. Thanks to all those who have contributed to our Pesach Campaign, so CSSY could help families in our community with their Pesach needs. Thanks to your partnership, single mothers struggling to feed their children and fathers barely making ends meet brought home funds to celebrate Pesach with their families in a joyous and dignified manner.
It’s heartwarming to see how our Crown Heights community members are there caring for each other, especially in times of need. While you probably were unaware, its likely that many of those who you encountered this Yom Tov were beneficiaries of CSSY. A friend sitting next to you in shul, a relative who stopped by to say hello or perhaps just a nearby shopper in the grocery store line, they were all smiling on Pesach thanks to you. They may have received food vouchers or funds to help relieve their stressful Pesach burden. Of course, you would never know since CSSY distributes grants in a discreet and respectful manner. These gifts are distributed within our local community so Crown Heights families and friends could celebrate Yom Tov together sharing genuine smiles and cheerful expressions.
Thanks to you:
* $250,000 worth of food vouchers were given out to 275 needy families, helping them buy food in our local grocery stores.
* $200,000 in cash grants were allocated to 150 larger families who required additional financial support durring Pesach
* Dozens of Checks were confidentially mailed to hard working fathers and mothers who may have been shamed to request assistance. They were pleasantly surprised to find unsolicited assistance sitting in their mailbox.
* We anonymously paid the outstanding bills for 90 families in local grocery stores
* Hundreds of pounds of Shmura matzah were distributed to relieve families of their enormous cost.
Additionally, many children were treated to new clothing for Yom Tov, single mothers received extra spending money and those with distinct challenges were aided to help remove some of their anxieties making Yom Tov more enjoyable.
It doesn’t end there; CSSY distributes food vouchers each week before Shabbos and Yom Tov. Families are struggling and need assistance throughout the year. They turn to CSSY knowing we are always there to help keep food on their tables. By continuing to support CSSY you are a giving Tzedakah and providing for the neediest in our community in a most sensitive way bringing them true “Simchas Shabbos V’Yom Tov”.
I hope and pray that Crown Heights continues to be a place where we live together and we all be blessed with gezunt parnasa and nachas b’harchava!
Sincerely,
Benzion Stock
