The community is invited to join City Council Democratic Nominee Crystal Hudson for a Meet and Greet event at the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights.
The event is being hosted by community activist Devorah Halberstam and will give an opportunity for residents to hear Ms. Hudson’s vision for the district and to ask questions and share thoughts on the issues facing the community.
The event will take place Tuesday, October 19 at 7 pm at the Jewish Children’s Museum.
Crystal Hudson will be the Democratic nominee for our upcoming election on November 2nd. She will be taking City Council Member Laurie Cumbo’s seat representing the 35th Council District. A former city staffer who has worked for City Council Member Cumbo and the Public Advocate, Hudson beat Michael Hollingsworth, a tenant organizer, who was in second place after other candidates were eliminated.
Halberstam encourages residents to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss the many issues in the city.
“This is our Crown Heights community,” Halberstam says. “The City Council decides on many issues in the city – affordable housing, sanitation, safety, education and culture. It is our opportunity as a community to listen and ask questions about Ms. Hudson’s vision and platforms on issues. It is our chance to share who we are and our concerns.”
The Jewish community of Crown Heights actively supported Hudson, who thanked the Chasidic community for their support on election night, saying she is “proud to have the orthodox and Chasidic community on my team,” to applause and shouts of “Mazel Tov!” and “L’Chaim!”
It gives the community enough time to plan to join – and it is very important that we have a big crowd. It is a huge brocha for us that she won. Go Devorah !!!
Unless the topic of why Crown Heights needs alternate side parking 4 times a week on residential blocks, and 5 times a week on commercial blocks is a top priority I want no part of this nonsense.
We have more alternate side parking then anywhere on planet earth. Mothers have to wake up sleeping infants from naps to move cars daily.
Nobody gives a damn!!!
On the contrary this is an unusual opportunity to ‘meet the candidate’ in a public forum. She will be the main Council Member for the bulk of Crown Heights. It’s important to ask her what types of legislation she will be focusing on, what is her stance or policy on public safety, bail reform and defunding the police. Does she plan to introduce legislation on LGBT policies into schools?. What are her views on Israel although this should not be a city issue. Everyone should attend but keep in mind kiddush hashem. Whether you agree or disagree listen with respect.… Read more »
Izzy, they have done away with those rules a long time ago. Alternate side parking is now only once a week on each side of the street for residential blocks.
Good idea, certainly a big undertaking.
